The 11th International Symposium on Autophagy

We are excited to welcome you to the 11th International Symposium on Autophagy (Nov 16th-20th 2025), a premier event that will bring together leading scientists, researchers, and industry professionals from around the world. The first ISA, organised by Dr Yoshinori Ohsumi (the 2016 Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine) was held in 1997 and since then, the ISA has been positioned as one of the most prestigious meetings in the autophagy research field.

The symposium will highlight the latest breakthroughs in autophagy research, showcasing diverse techniques used to study this critical process. This includes advanced live-cell imaging, flow cytometry, high-throughput screening, CRISPR gene editing, in vitro biochemistry and proteomics based approaches that are revealing the complex mechanisms of autophagy, while novel animal and cell based models including stem cells are used to provide deeper insights into its role in human disease. As the field evolves, understanding how to modulate autophagy to treat diseases is becoming a key focus. Targeting autophagy pathways offers the potential for new, personalized therapies for diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, cancer, diabetes, and autoimmune conditions, and could even delay aging and extend healthspan.

At the 11th International Symposium on Autophagy you will learn from leading minds in the field and have the opportunity to network with global researchers and industry professionals. This is an event not to be missed.

We look forward to welcoming you to Lorne in 2025.
